Hawthorne High School is a four year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grade from Hawthorne, in Passaic County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Hawthorne Public Schools.

As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 703 students and 50.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.9.^[1]

The school was the 148th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools. The school was ranked 157th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.^[2]

The Hawthorne High School Bears compete in the Bergen-Passaic Scholastic League (BPSL), made up of private and public high schools located in Bergen County and Passaic County.

Lois A. Cuccinello, who has served on the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders since 1997. In January 1999 she was selected to serve as Freeholder Director, making Freeholder Cuccinello the first woman to hold that position in four decades.^[4]
