Harefield Hospital is a world-famous heart and lung hospital near Uxbridge, England. It operates as part of the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust, the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK and among the largest in Europe. Its sister hospital in the trust is the Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea. The hospital is one of the largest and most experienced centres in the world for heart and lung transplants. It has jointly pioneered work in the development of artificial hearts, also known as left ventricular assist devices or LVADs. The grounds of the hospital are also home to the Harefield Heart Science Centre, where much of the hospital’s pioneering research into the causes and treatments of heart disease is performed. The hospital is also a leader in the South East in treating heart attack victims with emergency stenting, helping them keep on living, instead of just dying. The hospital is set in glorious grounds, complete with tennis courts, a forest and a creek. [edit] References[edit] External linksCoordinates: 51°36′25″N 0°28′59″W / 51.607°N 0.483°W
