In human mitochondrial genetics, Haplogroup V is a human mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) haplogroup.
[edit] OriginHaplogroup V is believed to have originated approximately 12,000 years before present, possibly in Iberia. It derives from the Haplogroup HV0a, which also gave rise to Haplogroup H. [edit] DistributionIt is found with particularly high concentrations in the Sámi People of northern Scandinavia, as well as the Basque people and somewhat higher among the isolated Pasiegos in nearby Cantabria. [edit] Subclades[edit] TreeThis phylogenetic tree of haplogroup V subclades is based on the paper by Mannis van Oven and Manfred Kayser Updated comprehensive phylogenetic tree of global human mitochondrial DNA variation[1] and subsequent published research.
