Aloysius J. De Sylva a.k.a Hal De Forrest (1862, Portugal – 16 February 1938, New York City) was a Portuguese-born American early silent film actor.

After emigrating to New York City from Portugal he became a stage actor starring on Broadway in the original A Gentleman from Mississippi play performed between September 29, 1908 – September 1909.

De Forrest moved into film in 1915 but only starred in 9 films until his retirement from acting in 1922 aged 60. He was the father of the prolific songwriter and producer Buddy DeSylva.

De Forrest died in New York City in February 1938.
