Guan (Chinese: 關/关; pinyin: guān; Wade-Giles: kuan1; literally "shut; close; barrier") is pronounced and transliterated in a variety of ways. In Mandarin Chinese it is Hanyu Pinyin: Guan, Wade-Giles: Kuan. In Cantonese it is Kwan. The corresponding Vietnamese version is Quan.
