Gregory Eastwood (born 10 March 1987 in Auckland, New Zealand) is a professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for the Bulldogs in the National Rugby League. A New Zealand international representative lock or second row forward, he previously played for the Brisbane Broncos club. He is of English descent[1].

[edit] Playing career

Eastwood signed for the Brisbane Broncos as a schoolboy, and previously played for the Manurewa Marlins in South Auckland, New Zealand.

In 2007's ANZAC Test Eastwood made his international début for New Zealand from the bench.

Eastwood was a member of the 2008 World Cup-winning New Zealand team and played in all of their matches, including the final win against Australia.

After three seasons in Brisbane, Eastwood signed with Leeds Rhinos for the 2009 season, however his visa to play in the United Kingdom was denied.[2] While his visa was being appealed the The New Zealand Warriors and Bulldogs, along with several other NRL clubs, expressed interest in signing him.[3][4] Eastwood signed for the Bulldogs on loan for 2008 and played the season for them.

Eastwood made his debut for the Bulldogs in the round 2 clash on 21 March 2009 against the Penrith Panthers. The Bulldogs won the match 28–26, with Eastwood scoring a try.[5]

Leeds successfully appealed the decision and Eastwood will join the Rhinos for the 2010 season.[6]
