Governor Francisco Gabrielli International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional Gobernador Francisco Gabrielli) (IATA: MDZ, ICAO: SAME), better known as El Plumerillo International Airport, is located 8 km (5 miles) northeast of the center of Mendoza, a city in the Mendoza Province of Argentina. The airport covers an area of 490 hectares (1210 acres) and is operated by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 S.A.[1][2] The terminal building is 12,800 square meters (137,778 square feet) and has 2 levels. [edit] Accidents and IncidentsUruguayan Air Force Flight 571, also known less formally as the Andes flight disaster, was a chartered airline flight from Montevideo carrying 45 rugby team members and associates to Santiago (Chile), who made a Stopover in Mendoza Airport.
