"Good Old Mountain Dew" (ROUD 18669) is a song composed by Bascom Lamar Lunsford. In addition to being a folklorist, Mr. Lunsford was a lawyer, who defended clients in criminal cases involving moonshining. The original refers to traditional blind trading methods of purchasing illegal liquor. Subsequently, many folk verses have been added regarding the wondrous virtues of home brewed alcohol, and its effect on various individuals. The song has obvious affinities with "The Rare Old Mountain Dew", but is not a parody of it.
