Golden Ameda Brooks (born December 1, 1970) is an American actress.

Golden Brooks was born December 1, 1970 in San Francisco, California. Brooks is a graduate of UC-Berkeley and earned a Masters degree from Sarah Lawrence College.

Brooks has been featured in many films and television shows, and has appeared alongside actors such as Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox and Kevin Bacon. She appeared on an episode of Pete and Pete; "Crisis in the Love Zone". Playing big Pete's love interest Heather. Brooks is best known for her character Maya Wilkes (Joan's former sharp-tongued secretary and now acclaimed author) on the CW sitcom, Girlfriends, which she was on from 2000-2007.^[1] Before becoming an actress, Brooks studied literature and sociology at UC Berkeley and earned her Master's degree from Sarah Lawrence College. She currently has several projects in post-production, including the 2009 films Polish Bar and My Place in the Horror.^[2]

With her boyfriend D.B. Woodside she has a daughter Dakota Tao Brooks-Woodside, born on September 1st 2009^[3]

Golden Brooks has written an episode to the current season of Girlfriends entitled Snap Back which features Erykah Badu
On Girlfriends, Golden's character of Maya is several years younger than the other "girlfriends" Joan, Toni, and Lynn, but in real-life she is older than all 3 .
On an episode of Moesha in 2001, Brooks plays her Girlfriends character.
She has co-starred in several movies including Beauty Shop.
On an episode of the Jamie Foxx Show, Golden plays a girl named Nancy who Jamie confuses with Fancy.
She was featured in the 50 Cent music video for "Straight to the Bank.
