[edit] History

The club was founded on 6 July 1922 and until 1950, the team didn't make much of an impression on the pitch. From 1950 to 1958 the club was known as Progresul. In 1958 the name reverted to Gloria.

In 1954, the team unsuccessfully participated in a promotion play-off to the Divizia B at Sibiu, this team included the future Romanian internationals Anton and Dumitru Munteanu.

The autumn of 1956 marked the beginning of a better period for Gloria. Manager Augustin Botescu and several recognized players, such as Copil Ilie, Marin, Botescu jr. and others.

In 1957 Gloria were promoted to the Divizia C and in the next year they were promoted to the Divizia B. In this period Victor Ciocan made his debut. The team won promotion to the Divizia B in 1970 (under manager Titi Popescu) and 1975 (under Gheorghe Nuţescu).

For 15 years (1975-1990) Gloria remains between the best teams in the second level of Romania. Among the players to come from the youth ranks in this period are Gavril Balint (who would go on to play for Steaua Bucureşti), Sebastian Moga (Dinamo Bucureşti), and Viorel Moldovan (Coventry City and FC Nantes).

On the 23rd of July 2008 the Romanian team inaugurated their floodlight installation and their up-to-date field.
