[edit] History

[edit] 2007–2008: Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious and "Girlicious"

Girlicious is an American pop group formed by Robin Antin from the reality TV show Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious. Before the airing of the series premiere of the show, the girls were already chosen for "Girlicious" and had started recording their debut album in late 2007. Originally the group was to be a trio, but was conceived as a quartet through a final decision of creator Robin Antin on the show's season finale. Thus far, they have received greater attention from Canadian audiences. Girlicious was nominated for "Breakout Group", and "Reality: Music Competition" 08. They have modeled for "Sexy Hair" and they were in the October issue of the magazine from one of their photo shoots.[3][4] The have also been featured in Danny Fernandes's video for his single Fantasy[5]

Girlicious was originally signed to Geffen Records. However as of early 2009, they are currently signed to Interscope Records.

[edit] 2008–2009: Tiffanie Anderson's departure and a new direction

Since early June, 2009, rumors have spread regarding Tiffanie Anderson’s place in Girlicious, and whether she was still currently a part of the group or not. Speculations of Anderson’s departure were sparked primarily by their MySpace account, when all photos of Anderson were completely removed from the site, removing Tiffanie’s alias from the quote altogether.[6] Furthermore sparking rumors of Anderson's displacement from Girlicious was a Twitter update from Robin Antin, which read: "Girlicious fans! Nic, Nat, & Chrys are getting ready to record a new single, new video, & tour the world!" [7]

It was officially confirmed on June 11, 2009, via a YouTube video upload from Anderson’s official YouTube channel, that she is no longer a member of Girlicious.[8][9] In the video, Anderson cites changes with their new record label and sound, stating: "Robin Antin and the label were looking for a new direction for the group" ... "they were looking for the group to not be [urban] any longer". She also speaks of personal differences between some of the girls, saying the group wasn't seeing eye-to-eye on a lot of things: "a couple of the girls and I didn't have the same values or the same morals - causing a huge conflict in the end of it all."

On Sunday, June 21, 2009 Girlicious appeared live at the 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada as nominees and presenters. The girls won the award for the "Most Watched Video". Their video for Stupid Shit came in at second place. Robin Antin officially confirmed during a press conference for the MuchMusic Video Awards that Anderson was no longer part of the group.[10]

[edit] 2009–Present: New lineup, Second "Dance Pop" Album and Worldwide release

After embarking on their Girlicious Tour all over Canada and the eventual change in management and lineup, the remaining members of Girlicious continued making appearances in nightclubs and showrooms and performing for events. It was announced on August 14 that Girlicious will be opening up for Britney Spears a second time after opening up for her in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. They will be opening up for her two times, the tour dates are listed at Spears official website.[11]

Their new label, Interscope, had already started working with Girlicious for their second album since May 2009, but the production was put on hold so as to give way for the group's reinvention of their sound and the eventual departure of Anderson. The group continued the planning and production phases of the group's sophomore album in August 2009. The members had given periodic updates of the production process on their twitter accounts, as well as potential songs and collaborations.

Potential songs previously named by the members include Grinding, Don't Slow Down, Battlefield, Don't Go Fallin' In Love, Awake, Magnificent, Tell Me Lies[12] and Television [13]

The group is set to release their new album in March 2010, as confirmed by Robin Antin[14] Chrystina Sayers has confirmed that the album is close to being finished, stating the album will be an "International Pop" album, unlike the debut (which was only released in Canada).[15] She has also confirmed that the album will have no features.[16]

The new album's first single was revealed on the group's official Myspace page. A snippet of the single titled "Over You" was also posted on their Myspace page.[17] A new song entitled "Sexy Ladies" was leaked onto the internet, which is a cover of David Guetta's "Sexy Bitch".

The group plans to tour worldwide, as confirmed by Sayers.[18]

[edit] Solo Endeavors

Natalie Mejia: has re-released songs from her group Breathe[19] and been featured in Matt Goss's music video for "Evil".

Christina Sayers: is featured in Robin Antin's work-out DVD.

Nichole Cordova: has recorded songs before joining Girlicious, such as 'Everything', 'I Stunt', 'Watch Me' and 'White Chocolate'.[citation needed]
