Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Ph.D., (September 23, 1912 - September 25, 2005) D.Litt, SI, was a researcher, critic, linguist, author, scholar of Urdu literature & linguistics, educationist and religious & spiritual leader belonging to Naqshbandi order of Sufism. He was one of the most notable people of Hyderabad, Sindh Pakistan.

[edit] Life and services

He was born in Jabalpur, India on September 23, 1912. During his service life he was appointed as a lecturer at the King Edward College, Amrawati and after migration to Pakistan from India he was appointed in Urdu College, Karachi. Later in his life he also performed the duties of head of the department of Urdu in Sindh University. For his academic services he was honoured with various level of awards like the Presidential award Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Naqoosh award, Iqbal award and Nishan-i-Sipas.

He published a large number of research papers and still larger large number of books, translations, compilations, numbering about ninety three. His book on "'Iqbal & Quran" was awarded as the best book ever written on this subject[citation needed] and was awarded gold medal by Idara e Adbiat Pakistan.

Khan was also a famous religious and spiritual leader. His students included Ibn-e-Insha, Jameel Jalibi, Abul Lais Siddiqui, Aslam Farrukhi, Farman Fatehpuri, Moinuddin Aqeel, Abul Khair Kashfi and Syed Waqar Ahmed Rizvi.

Masroor Ahmed Zai wrote his PhD dissertation on the life and services of Khan.

He was author of more than ninety books in Urdu and English. He was also a poet.
