[edit] Club career

Ruano, a right back, began his career with CD Suchitepéquez. In 1993, he was brought to Municipal by the then club's coach Horacio Cordero, and from then he has won 11 league titles and five domestic cups at said team.[1] As of 2008, he is playing his sixteenth season with Municipal, being the second-longest serving active squad member after Juan Carlos Plata. Ruano has wore the number 17 on his shirt throughout his career. After finishing second on the 2008-2009 clausura tournament, his contract was not renewed, and afterwards he announced his retirement from the sport.

[edit] International career

Ruano made 55 appearances for the full Guatemala national football team, having taken part in the qualification processes to the World Cups of 1998 and 2002. He played four matches at the 1996 CONCACAF Gold Cup[2] and two matches at the 1998 CONCACAF Gold Cup.[3] He also won two Central-American titles with the national team, in 2001 and 2004.
