The Power of Tunniq, 2006, etching and aquatint. This print illustrates the supposed incredible strength of the Dorset People, who lived in the Canadian arctic before the arrival of the Inuit. Germaine Arnaktauyok (born 1946) is an Inuit artist from Igloolik. Her artistic output consists of lithographs, etchings, and serigraphs that illustrate Inuit myths and traditional ways of life. She is one of the few Inuit artists to have received formal art training, attending the University of Manitoba School of Art from 1969-70. [edit] Honors and Exhibits
