Geophysical survey refers to the systematic collection of geophysical data for subsurface spatial studies. Geophysical surveys may use a great variety of sensing instruments, and data may be collected from above or below the Earth's surface or from aerial or marine platforms. Geophysical surveys have many applications in Earth science, archaeology, and engineering for both commercial and research purposes. Geophysical survey companies provide commercial survey services for mining, oil & gas, geothermal exploration around the world. There are many types of Geophysical Surveys. These include seismological studies which use seismometers and geophones, known as a seismic reflection survey; gravity surveys which use gravimeters; magnetic surveying which uses magnetometers; electrical resistivity surveys which uses electrical resistivity arrays, and radioactive surveying.
