Gene Makowsky (born April 17, 1973 in New Westminster, British Columbia) is an offensive lineman for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. He was selected in the second round of the 1995 CFL College draft from the University of Saskatchewan. Makowsky helped the U of S Huskies to two Hardy Cup Championships in his four year tenure at the University, as well as being named to the Canada West All Star team in 1994. Makowsky has played in 211 games in his 13 years as a Roughrider, earning the CFL's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award in 2004. He won the award again in 2005. He went to Walter Murray Collegiate, a high school in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. After the Saskatchewan Roughriders defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2007 Grey Cup Final, Gene Makowsky was presented the Grey Cup by Commissioner Mark Cohon. Makowsky along with his then teammate Matt Dominguez made a cameo appearance in the Corner Gas episode "Reader Pride".
