Gefle IF is a Swedish football club located in Gävle. The club's name is the old spelling of the town Gävle. The club, formed 5 December 1882, is currently playing in the highest Swedish league, Allsvenskan. Gefle IF and Brynäs IF merged and played under the name Gefle IF/Brynäs between the 1979 and 1981 seasons, the merger being split up again in 1982.
