Gvox is a company known for producing musical notation software. During its long and turbulent history, it developed and acquired ground breaking products. Typically, these programs are designed by musicians for musicians. [edit] History [1].In 1992, Lyrrus Inc., dba Gvox, invented the Gvox guitar system. This system was revolutionary as it provided a way for guitarist to transcribe directly from their instrument to the computer using MIDI. Gvox also created learning software to accompany, “Riffs” and “Chords”. In 1995, Fender Musical Instruments endorsed the Gvox Guitar system and began to distribute. In 1998, Gvox bought Passport Designs, Inc intellectual property including Encore (software), MusicTime Deluxe and MasterTracks Pro In 2000, Gvox invested heavily in taking these great products onto the Internet. In so doing, gained the support of many top companies and organizations. In 2001, as the financial markets continued to erode combined with the tragic events of that year, Gvox suffered as so many companies did. By the end of 2001, the web site went down and they no longer had the financing to keep the business going. Lyrrus, Inc filed for Chapter 11, Title 11, United States Code Bankruptcy protection. In May 2002, Gvox reopened and released updates for their Passport products Encore, MusicTime and MasterTracks. The Gvox guitar system and related products were discontinued. In March 2003, Gvox vastly improved her customer support system with a self service knowledge base. In July of 2005, the Bankruptcy Court District of NJ confirmed a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy plan. Gvox hired a new CEO, Richard Hotchkiss. In September 2005, Software developer, Matt Ingalls begins upgrading the Passport product line. In October 2005, sales increased 40% over the previous year. In May 2006, released first update in two years, Encore 4.5.6 for Mac and Music Time Deluxe 3.5.6 for Mac. In July 2006, released MasterTracks Pro 6.8.4 for windows, a major bug fix. In January 2007, Gvox returns to the NAMM trade show.
