Fukuoka-Kitakyūshū (北九州・福岡大都市圏, kitakyūshū fukuoka daitoshiken^?) is one name given to the area of land that is centered on the cities of Fukuoka and Kitakyūshū in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Usually these cities are referred to separately,but since they are close, their economic areas sometimes overlap. Transportation links tend to overlap in the region as well.

The whole region consists of 3 metropolitan regions:

• Fukuoka-Kurume-Saga within Greater Fukuoka (2.7 million)

• Kitakyūshū-Shimonoseki (Greater Kitakyūshū), often called the Kanmon area after the Kanmon Straits, with around 1.2-2.3 million. Estimates vary depending on definition.

• Metropolitan Iizuka area which some regard as a suburb of both Fukuoka or Kitakyūshū with (220,000) people.

with sometimes:

• Metropolitan Shimonoseki may be considered a separate or integral part of Greater Kitakyūshū / Kanmon (700,000), including Ube, Yamaguchi City.

Ōita, Sasebo, Kumamoto are never included in any above estimates, despite their relative proximity to Fukuoka and Kitakyūshū, rather they are part of Northern Kyūshū.
