The France national youth football team are the national under-20, under-19, under-18, under-17 and under-16 football teams of France and are controlled by the Fédération Française de Football.
The under-20 squad is often cited as a feeder squad to the under-21 squad as they rarely play and players prefer to play on the under-21 squad. The under-20 squad only see time during the annual Tournoi Espoirs de Toulon, usually when the under-21 team doesn't send a team, which is held every May when football league seasons have ended and recently the FIFA U-20 World Cup, though qualification is required and earned by the under-19 team. The under-20 team also participates in the quad-annual Mediterranean Games and Jeux de la Francophonie football tournaments.
The under-19 squad participates in various tournaments and friendly matches around the world, the most important being the UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship and the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The under-18 squad participates in tournaments and friendly matches around the world. They are consider a feeder club to the under-19 squad.
The under-17 squad participates in two important tournaments. The UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship and the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Both requires qualification.
The under-16 squad participates in regional tournaments, such as the Tournoi de Val-de-Marne and the Tournoi de Montaigu. They also participated in the UEFA European Under-16 Football Championship before it was converted into an under-17 event.
