François Affolter (born 13 March 1991 in Biel/Bienne, Bern, Switzerland) is a Swiss football defender currently playing for BSC Young Boys in the Swiss Super League. He made his first-team debut at the age of 17 years old on 14 September 2008 in a 2-1 victory over AC Bellinzona, replacing Marc Schneider in the starting eleven due to suspension. Since that match, he has been a regular starter for the club in their 3-man defence, alongside Saif Ghezal and Miguel Alfredo Portillo. Before he plays with the first team, he was playing with the under 18 team. He won the under 18 championship the same year. Then he joined the first team for friendly matches in the summer of 2008 and the new BSC Young Boys trainer Vladimir Petkovic gave him his chance and since then he played every single matches with the first team. So far, he played 10 Swiss Super League matches, 2 Swiss Cup matches and 1 UEFA Cup match and never lost a match in the Swiss Super League (7 victories and 3 draws). He signed his first professional contract with BSC Young Boys on November 2008.
