The Football League Third Division South Cup was a knockout competition open to teams competing in Division 3 (South) of The Football League. The competition was first held in 1934 and ran until league football was suspended during World War II.[1] The final was played as a one-off match in 1934 and 1935, but changed to a two-leg format for the remainder of the competition.

The 1939 final was not played due to the outbreak of war, but was due to be between Torquay United and the winner of the semi-final replay between Queens Park Rangers and Port Vale, which was also not played.[2]
