Flydubai, styled as flydubai, is an Arabian start-up low-cost airline in the United Arab Emirates, based at Dubai International Airport. Flydubai aims to offer competitive ticket prices, along with flexible hotel, car rental, insurance, and visa services to Dubai.

The airline operates from the modernised and enhanced Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport.^[1]

The airline was founded on 19 March 2008 by Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum the chairman of Emirates Airline. Although not part of The Emirates Group the airline has had support from Emirates to get them off the ground.^[2] Flights were commenced with a service to Beirut, Lebanon on 1 June 2009, and Amman, Jordan the following day, with additional destinations added since the launch.

The Flydubai fleet consists of the following aircraft in an all economy class (at 3 November 2009):^[3]

All of Flydubai's aircraft are configured in economy configuration.

On 14 July 2008, Flydubai signed a USD 4 billion firm order at the Farnborough Air Show with Boeing for 50 Boeing 737-800's, with the option to change the order to longer range Boeing 737-900ER's later on.^[4] A leasing agreement was also signed with Babcock & Brown Aircraft Management for four more Boeing 737-800's for delivery in 2009.^[4]

In April 2009, the first Flydubai aircraft was at Boeing Field it has been painted in full livery in preparation for delivery.^[5]

On 18 May 2009, the first Boeing 737-800 was delivered to Flydubai.^[6]
