The flag of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, a de facto independent republic located in the Nagorno-Karabakh region (or Artsakh region) of the South Caucasus, is derived from the flag of Armenia, with only a white pattern added. The flag was adopted on June 2, 1992.[1] This symbolises the Armenian heritage and population of the area and represents Nagorno-Karabakh as being a separated region of Armenia by the triangular shape. The pattern is also similar to the designs used on Armenian rugs.
