Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FFKK, Russian: Федерация фигурного катания на коньках России, lit. Figure Skating on Skates Federation of Russia) is the national sport governing body for figure skating in Russia. It is recognized as such by Russian Olympic Committee and by the International Skating Union (ISU). No individual membership exists, the members of the FFKK are in various ice sports associations. FFKK was founded in 1992 as the successor of the Figure Skating Federation of the USSR (Soviet Union). Its president since then is Valentin Piseev, who was also a president of Soviet skating federation since 1989.[1] The goals of this governing body are: taking a plan of competitions by the calendar, developing a curriculum for figure skating in Russia, forming a national team, making contracts with sportsmen and coaches, international relations with other skating organizations, assistance regional federations, organizing Cup of Russia and other important events and etc. Since 2009 the main sponcor of FFKK is Rostelecom.[2]
[edit] StructureApart from the president (Valentin Piseev), there are several vice presidents. As of 2006, the list of vice presidents include Aleksandr Gorshkov, Sergei Kononykhin, Aleksandr Lakernik, Oleg Nilov and Irina Raber.[3] The governing of FFKK is fulfiled by the Conference, which is held one in two years. All decisions during the the Conference are made though voting. Members, who will participate in it, are chosen in regional figure skating federations. In intervals between the Conferences FFKK is ruled by the Presidium of 30 people.[4] There is also a Coaching Council of 17 people, among whom are Zhanna Gromova, Victor Kudriavtsev, Alexei Mishin, Tamara Moskvina, Tatiana Tarasova.
