Fiction Records is a UK indie label started by Chris Parry in 1978 that is best known as being the home of The Cure for over 20 years. The label's first #1 record was Wish by The Cure in 1992, going #1 in the United Kingdom. The label became dormant and its only activity was in re-releasing The Cure records.

Joe Munns, Paul Smernicki and Jim Chancellor, while working on the then Snow Patrol album in January 2004 decided to re-start the label to "give Polydor a bit more of a guitar stronghold", whose roster consisted mostly pop acts. The first release on the "new" Fiction was the Snow Patrol single "Run"[1] (which entered the UK chart at #5) and album Final Straw which has since gone on to sell over 2 million copies around the world.

Fiction has released records from the likes of Stephen Fretwell, Jacknife Lee, Delays, Alberta Cross, Guillemots and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The current Fiction stable includes Ian Brown, The Maccabees, Kate Nash, Athlete, Elbow, White Lies, Yuksek, Filthy Dukes, and Detroit Social Club.
