Festus Agu (born 13 March 1975 in Enugu) is a retired Nigerian footballer, who played as a striker.

[edit] Football career

After his beginnings in Nigeria, Agu made his first abroad adventure in 1994 in [Bolivia], South America where he featured for the Bolivian league champions Bolivar del La Paz in the 1994 season. He also played with [Club Bolívar] in the South American Champions League [COPA LIBERTADORES DE AMERICA] against the then Roberto Carlos led team Palmeras in Rio De Jeneiro, Brasil which happened to be one of his highest point in football. He made little impact in Bolivia as a result of the difficulties in the altitude - about five thousand seven hundred metre [570 meters] above sea level.

An adventure in Spain followed, as he was bought by the Spanish Primera Liga team [[SD Compostela]] in tne 1994/95 season. The iconic club chairman José María Caneda described him as "...a mix between Ronaldo and Bent Christensen (the latter a player at the team at that time)";[1] there, he also partnered with countryman Christopher Ohen, and played only eight times in the league; after that, he was loaned to neighbours CD Ourense, then in the Spanish second division second level, where he was also not so lucky.

In the following eight years, Agu played in Germany, eventually finding some success, even though he never played in higher than the second division - appearing 24 times between SC Fortuna Köln and SV Wacker Burghausen in that category, combined. His career was greatly disrupted be a persistent injuries because of his athletic muscular physical composition. He eventually retired from active football in 2005 with the "Regional Liga"[third division] team [FC Sankt Pauli, Hamburg] as a result of a PERSISTENT and"RECURRENT" "KNEE" and "SHOULDER" injuries that resulted in three major surgical operations in Stuttgart and Hamburg in 2002 and 2005.

From Hamburg Germany, Agu moved over directly to England where he is now pursuing a career in law. He graduated in 2008 obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Law with Honours '(LLB Hons). He wishes to amalgamate his many years of "Professional Football" experience and his legal knowledge to impact in the world of sports generally with particular reference to football. He is currently doing his Post-Graduate-Diploma in Law with the Birmingham City University in the United Kingdom with a view to specialising in SPORTS LAW.

NOTE: This is to inform the general public to please beware of the many misleading and misrepresenting information and articles that has been and is still being communicated on the net using the name of "Festus Agu", including his pictures and often providing fake email addresses and telephone numbers. A lot of people also parade themselves and project their images to be Festus Agu and attach sometimes Agu's picture(s) or a piece of his article(s) to the information to appear to be real.
