Career highlights

Fergus Watts (born 21 September 1985) was an England-born Australian rules football player with the AFL's Adelaide Football Club and the St Kilda Football Club. Watts was a forward line player. He was educated at Wesley College, Melbourne

[edit] Adelaide Crows 2004-05

Watts was a 2003 1st round draft selection (14th overall) for the Adelaide Crows. Watts was on the Crows playing list for two seasons, but disappointingly played only 5 senior games (all in 2004), returning 2 goals.[2] He had more success in the SANFL, including a 10 goals haul for Woodville-West Torrens in the 2005 SANFL semi-final.

He requested to be traded to St Kilda at the end of the 2005 season, citing limited playing opportunities. Fergus' father Jim Watts was the CEO of the St Kilda Football Club at that time, later leaving the club in June 2006.[3]. A deal was made with the Crows receiving a first round draft selection in return - used to secure Darren Pfeiffer (selection no. 17 overall), who was later delisted after 0 AFL games at the end of the 2007 season.[4]

[edit] St Kilda 2006-07

In 2 seasons Watts played a single senior game for the Saints, the 2006 season opener against West Coast (1 goal).[5] Dropped to the VFL he broke his ankle playing for Casey Scorpions two weeks later. His recovery was prolonged, punctuated by five surgeries on his leg and ankle and a struggle with osteitis pubis.[6] Although returning to the VFL in the latter half of 2007 he was unable to break into the Saints senior side. At the end 2007 he was delisted by the club.[7]
