The Evening Herald is a tabloid evening newspaper published in Dublin, Ireland by Independent News & Media. It is published Monday-Saturday, and has three editions — City Edition, City Final Edition and National Edition. Despite its name, its early editions are usually available by late morning.

Until November 2000, The Evening Herald was both produced and pressed in Independent House on Middle Abbey St, Dublin 1. The monochrome printing facility in the basement of this building was then retired, and the paper is now printed in full colour at a purpose-built plant in Citywest, along with The Irish Independent, the Sunday Independent and various other regional newspapers owned by Independent News & Media. In 2004, production of the paper was moved from Independent House to a new office on Talbot St and the paper's old home was sold to the neighbouring department store, Arnotts, for an estimated €26m.

The newspaper has been variously marketed as both a Dublin local newspaper and a national newspaper. It is available throughout most of the country. In Dublin it is the only evening newspaper. However, in Munster it competes against the Evening Echo. It has an extensive classified ad section. On Friday, it publishes a weekend supplement called It's Friday. It also publishes the Polish language Polski Herald supplement on Wednesdays. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, it had an average daily circulation of 87,645 during the first six months of 2006.

On 10 October 2005 a free version of the Evening Herald, published in the mornings and entitled Herald AM, began distribution, as a defensive measure against the Daily Mail and General Trust-owned Metro, launched on the same date. Originally it was planned to be called Herald Metro, until DGMT took out an injunction to prevent the word "metro" being included in the newspaper's title. Herald AM reuses some content from the regular Evening Herald, which continues to be published. It was redesigned in April 2006 to give it a different look from its sister title.

In July 2009, a jury awarded a record €1.87 million in damages, after they found that a series of articles printed in the Evening Herald in 2004 damaged Monica Leech’s reputation by wrongly suggesting that she was having an extra-marital affair with Minister Martin Cullen.[1]
