Evan "Kidd" Bogart (born January 23, 1978) is a multi-faceted music executive and songwriter who has contributed to long list of internationally successful artists. He is the son of Casablanca Records founder Neil Bogart and music manager Joyce Bogart-Trabulus, who co-managed KISS and Donna Summer.
[edit] Music careerBogart started working at Interscope Records as an intern when he was 16 years old. At the age of 18, Former Interscope Records President Tom Whalley promoted him into the A&R department. Under Whalley's supervision, Bogart aided in the coordination of various projects most notably for 2Pac's multi-platinum posthumous release "R U Still Down (Remember Me)" as the A&R Project Coordinator and the multi-platinum Eminem's "Slim Shady LP" as an A&R Director. While at Interscope Records, Bogart was responsible for the scouting and delivering of Eminem and WEB Entertainment to Aftermath/Interscope Records. By 21, Bogart had moved into artist management as well as A&R Consultant for Warner Bros Records through Tom Whalley. He formed the now defunct BAT Management alongside partners Walter "Walt Liquor" Taylor and Jordan Feldstein. Under BAT Management and in conjunction with other managers Joseph "3H" Weinberger, Justin Trugman and Todd Bird, he was responsible for and/or assisted in the careers of Grammy Award winning Maroon 5, Planet Asia, Mystic, Styles Of Beyond and various others. Bogart played an integral role in Maroon 5 signing with Octone Records with Feldstein, who still manages the band. In 2002, Bogart started Casbah Artists Management with his then wife Cheryl Costanzo (now divorced). Under Casbah, Bogart managed former Dreamworks recording artist Vishiss. During the making of the record in 2003, During the project, Bogart was introduced to multi-platinum producer and future collaborator Jonathan "J.R." Rotem. In the summer of 2004, Bogart went to work for the Agency for the Performing Arts as an Agent in the Concerts Department. By 2006, Bogart's roster for APA included OneRepublic, The Outline, DJ Graham Funke, DJ Stonerokk and Planet Asia, among others. While working at the agency, Bogart, inspired by Costanzo, developed a female R&B trio. Bogart, teamed with Rotem and music executive Zach Katz, crafted an image and sound for the girls. After failing to garner significant interest for the group, Bogart, Rotem and Katz made alternative deals for the Bogart/Rotem penned compositions for other major label projects, most notably the worldwide #1 single SOS (also known as SOS (Rescue Me)" performed by Rihanna. In 2006, Bogart left the Agency for the Performing Arts to pursue writing full-time. In 2006, Rotem started his own record label and publishing company, Beluga Heights, along with manager Zach Katz and signed Bogart as the head songwriter. Bogart co-wrote four songs on the debut album from Beluga Heights first artist Sean Kingston including the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 single "Take You There". He has since written for artists and groups such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Leona Lewis Keyshia Cole, Sean Kingston, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Natasha Bedingfield, Kylie Minogue, Adam Lambert, Pussycat Dolls, Jason DeRulo, Blake Lewis, Paula DeAnda, Ashley Tisdale, Mýa, Paris Hilton, Jesse McCartney, Hayden Panettiere, NLT, Brandy, Wynter Gordon, Paula Deanda, Nick Lachey, Donna Summer, Jessi Malay, Jordyn Taylor, Nikki Flores, Lalaine, Kesha, The Veronicas, Corbin Bleu, Lucy Walsh, The Cheetah Girls, Keke Palmer, Hilary Duff, Varsity Fanclub, Frankie J, Heidi Montag, Steph Jones, Sophia Fresh and Christina Milian, among others. He currently resides in Los Angeles where he creates most of his music at Rotem's Chalice Studio C and The Writing Camp's Campground Studios. Bogart has joined forces with songwriters David "DQ" Quiñones and Erika Nuri to make up The Writing Camp, a songwriting collective based out of Hollywood, CA. The Writing Camp, along with Victoria Horn and Rodney Jerkins, wrote Brandy's debut single "Right Here (Departed)" off her 2008 album "Human". Picked as the album's leading single and Brandy's first release with Epic Records, following her split with Atlantic Records in 2005, the song premiered via Brandy's official webpage on August 13, 2008.[1] The Writing Camp's Quiñones and Bogart co-wrote Beyoncé's "Hello" off of her I Am...Sasha Fierce album and Bogart co-wrote "Halo" with Ryan Tedder. The Writing Camp has since formed The Writing Camp, LLC, housing a music publishing company, music production house and music supervision company.
