Eugenio Hernández Flores

Eugenio Javier Hernández Flores (b. October 17, 1959 in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas) is a Mexican politician affiliated to the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). He is a former mayor of Ciudad Victoria and the current governor of Tamaulipas (2004 – 2010).

Hernández Flores received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies.

After working several years as a public contractor in Golfo Laguna, S.A. and managing the political campaign of Francisco Labastida in Tamaulipas, he was elected mayor of Ciudad Victoria, the state capital. In 2004 he was elected governor of the state with 61% of the vote.

One of the Eugenio Hernandez' main goals as Governor is to position Tamaulipas as the center for high-tech research in Mexico, specifically for Information Technology (IT). He also aims to increase the quantity and quality of available high-value-added jobs in the state and provide an ideal environment that fosters collaboration between private enterprise, the research community, anduniversities in the region. In pursuit of this goal, Gov. Hernandez inaugurated on 12-NOV-2009 the Science and Technology Park of Tamaulipas in the capital city of Ciudad Victoria, the first and only technology park of its kind in Mexico dedicated exclusively to IT.

Hernández is married to Adriana González and has four children: Ana Roberta, Eugenio, Fabiola and Camila.
