He was signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 1994. He played college football at North Carolina. He is known mainly as a long snapper. [edit] Early yearsAlbright attended Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina (1989), and was a standout in football, basketball, and baseball. [edit] College careerAlbright played tight end early in his career for the North Carolina Tar Heels but later switched to offensive tackle and was named First Team All-ACC at that position in 1993. Albright also handled the long snapping duties for the Tar Heels. [edit] Professional career[edit] Miami DolphinsAlbright began as an undrafted free agent, but later signed with the Miami Dolphins. [edit] Washington RedskinsIn 2001, he signed with the Redskins. On March 3, 2005, he was re-signed by the team.[1] Albright was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2007. He wore the number 21, along with teammates Chris Cooley and Chris Samuels, in honor of their teammate Sean Taylor, who was killed during the 2007 season. Albright was re-signed by the Redskins, keeping him away from the free agent market, on February 19, 2008.[2] The Redskins re-signed Albright again on February 13, 2009. His nickname, "Red Snapper", is a reference to his red hair and specialization as a long snapper. [edit] Pop CultureThe 2007 edition of the Madden NFL game by EA Sports has Albright rated 53 out of 99, the lowest of all NFL players. This has become an internet meme, after first being pointed out on the ESPN website.[3]. In reference to being the lowest-rated player in the game, Juan Turlington of the satirical sports website 'the Phat Phree' wrote a mock-email, addressed to John Madden, sent from Albright. [edit] FamilyAlbright and his wife, Katherine, have two daughters and two sons: Mary Grace, Madelyn Costner, Lawson Geoffrey and Nolan Davis; they reside in Greensboro, North Carolina [edit] References
