[edit] History

Teco.

Estudiantes Tecos was founded in 1935 under the name Tecos UAG. They played amateur football until 1971 when they joined Federacion Mexicana de Futbol. They gained promotion to Liga de Ascenso, and two years later in 1974-75 season, they were promoted to Primera División Mexicana. In First Division they didn't have much chances, so they had difficulties, until the 80's, where they could enter the Liguilla, (tournament for the title), but where soon defeated.[2] They arrived to the final in 1993-1994 season where they faced Club Santos Laguna. The match was very hard for Tecos, but finally they beat the match, and they held the title.

In May 25, 2009 the project was officially released. The first change was the name; Tecos de la UAG (Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara) turned into Estudiantes Tecos. The new colors are now wine and yellow, which before were white with red. The new uniform and project are being used since Clausura 2009.
