The erotic thriller is a film and literary sub-genre which consists of a mixture between erotica and thriller. The genre has, especially in North American, increased in popularity since the 1980s.

Some notable films in the genre include: Body Heat, Basic Instinct, Cat People, Fatal Attraction, Fear, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, Wild Things, Bound, In the Cut, Lust, Caution, Poison Ivy, Crash, Color of Night, Eyes Wide Shut, The Crush, and most recently Obsessed.
