Eric Frimpong (born December 14, 1985 in Accra) is a Ghanaian soccer player, who played for UC Santa Barbara while double-majoring in applied mathematics and business economics.^[1] He was convicted of rape and is currently serving a 6 year sentence.^[1]

Frimpong was scouted and recruited for the UCSB soccer team by a team coach in 2005.^[2] He played the position of midfielder. Frimpong appeared in all 21 of UCSB's soccer matches, being one of only three players to do so. He became well known for leading UCSB to their first national championship. During his collegiate years he also played for both the San Fernando Valley Quakes and Ventura County Fusion in the USL Premier Development League.

Frimpong was drafted in the third round (30th overall) of the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft by Kansas City Wizards, but was never able to accept his contract offer.

On Feb. 17, 2007 a woman only identified as Jane Doe claimed to be raped. Frimpong was charged and found guilty of rape in a jury trial on December 17, 2007 at the Santa Barbara Superior Court.^[3] The conviction has raised concerns and controversy. There were no physical marks on Frimpong, Frimpong's DNA wasn't found on the victim and semen found on her underwear belonged to a boyfriend.^[4] In addition Doe admitted to drinking heavily and had a near lethal blood alcohol level between .29 and .34 throughout the evening and not remembering the actual rape.^[1]
