[edit] HistoryEngineers formed in London in 2003. The band's sound is often described as a mixture of psychedelia, shoegazing and post-rock, though they themselves claim their influences range from The Cocteau Twins to Curtis Mayfield[citation needed]. Sweeney has remarked that "We've always said if more people started taking acid we'd clean up." They were signed to the Echo record label, and the band recorded and released the Folly EP in September 2004. The EP featured the singles "Come in Out of the Rain" and "Forgiveness" (which the band would re-record for their debut album), as well as a cover of Tim Hardin's "If I Were a Carpenter." Their eponymous debut album followed in March 2005, preceded by the top 50 single "Forgiveness" in February. Later in 2005, they recorded a version of Tim Buckley's "Song to the Siren" for the 2005 tribute album Dream Brother: The Songs of Tim and Jeff Buckley. [edit] Sophomore albumWhilst in the process of mixing their follow-up album, they split with Echo Records and their future became uncertain. On 4 February 2008, bassist Mark Peters posted this message on the band's forum:
The digital release of the album never came to fruition. On 29 August 2008, Mark Peters posted a message with some new information about their second record:
The second album, entitled Three Fact Fader, was released on Kscope on 6 July 2009 in Europe.[6] [edit] Discography[edit] Albums and EPs
