Emma Quayle has been a journalist at The Age newspaper in Melbourne, Australia, since 1999 and has covered sport since 2001, specialising in Australian Football League football but also covering some tennis and hockey. Quayle won AFL Media Association Awards in 2005 and 2006 for her coverage of under-18 football and the AFL draft. Her first book - The Draft: inside the AFL's search for talent, featuring Trent Cotchin, Ben McEvoy, Brad Ebert, Cyril Rioli and Patrick Veszpremi, was published by Allen & Unwin in September 2008. Emma won the Grant Hattam Award - awarded to the creator of the best piece of football journalism from the players' perspective - at the AFL Players Association MVP night in September 2009.
