Elias of Cortona^[1] was the second Minister General of the Friars Minor (Franciscans), b., it is said, at Bevilia near Assisi, c. 1180; d. at Cortona, 22 April, 1253.

Attribution to him of some alchemical manuscripts^[2] is often questioned.
