Dustin Eli Whiteside (born October 22, 1979 in New Albany, Mississippi) is a Major League Baseball catcher for the San Francisco Giants. He played previously for the Baltimore Orioles, making his major league debut in 2005. In 2008, he played in the minors for the Minnesota Twins and San Francisco Giants organizations. He was called up to the San Francisco Giants on May 24, 2009, was the starting catcher, and collected his first NL hit. On July 10, 2009, Whiteside caught Jonathan Sanchez's no-hitter against the San Diego Padres.[1] On August 5, 2009, Whiteside hit a grand slam, his first Major League home run, against Brian Moehler of the Houston Astros on a first pitch fastball.
