Elenore Abbott (1875 – 1935) was an American book illustrator, scenic designer, and artist. Born Elenore Plaisted in Lincoln, Maine, she studied at several schools in Philadelphia and Paris. She was particularly influenced by her time at the Drexel Institute, where she was taught by the famous illustrator Howard Pyle. Abbott's illustrations appeared in many magazines, including the Saturday Evening Post, Harper's and Scribner's. She also illustrated numerous books, including Kidnapped, Treasure Island, Swiss Family Robinson, and Grimm's Fairy Tales, the last being the work for which she is probably best known. She also did scene designs for Hedgerow Theater. In 1907 she married C. Yarnall Abbott, who was also an artist. They had one daughter.[1][2] [edit] External linksElenore Abbott illustrations at Sur La Lune[3] [edit] Notes
