Elaine Lordan (born 1966 in Islington, London, England) is a British actress. Lordan is most famous for her role as Lynne Hobbs in the BBC soap opera EastEnders, which she appeared in from 2000 until 2004 which was marred with reports of alcoholism namely in 2001 when she made a drunken scene on a flight. Lordan was removed from the show in mid 2004 following a publicised battle with alcohol and tension with her co-stars and show bosses. Previous to this role, she also appeared in Gimme Gimme Gimme as Linda La Hughes's Eurovision-singing sister Sugar Walls in the episode "Do they take Sugar?" (Series 1, Episode 4, first aired January 29 1999) and re-appeared the following year in the episode "Teacher's Pet" (Series 2, Episode 1, first aired January 14 2000), in Game On as Mandy's university friend Julia in 1996, Tucker's Luck and Casualty. In September 2008, Lordan said she would return to EastEnders if asked, as she wanted to return to acting and get her life back on track. Lordan also received public criticism for having an affair with a married man. Lordan gave birth to a son James in December 2004 with boyfriend Peter Manuel. James was born with a defective diaphragm. Shortly after James's first birthday, Lordan married Peter. James underwent surgery on his diaphragm and was looking much better. However, just five days later, the baby died. She appeared on the fifth series of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! in November 2005, but within a day of arriving she passed out and was removed from camp on medical advice, and on November 23, 2005 it was announced she would not return. Lordan's mother, who had an ongoing battle with depression, committed suicide by jumping on the tracks at Highbury and Islington tube station. Lordan has since written a book entitled "Whatever it takes" which tells the story of the loss of her baby and her mother as well as her battle with alcoholism and her subsequent recovery. She was the first person to be voted off the 2007 series of Soapstar Superstar after performing Bonnie Tyler's It's a Heartache. [edit] External links |
