Edgar Leslie (December 31, 1885, Stamford, Connecticut – 1976) was an American songwriter. His first song Lonesome in 1909 was an immediate success, recorded by the Haydn Quartet and again by Byron G. Harlan. Other notable artists he worked with are: Leslie's hit songs include:
He was a founding member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1914 and its director from 1931 to 1941 and from 1947 to 1953. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1972. [edit] References
