Edgar Louis "Beaver" Laprade (born October 10, 1919) was a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who played for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League. He was born in Mine Centre, Ontario. He also spent time with the Port Arthur Bearcats of the Thunder Bay Senior Hockey League. Edgar was one of Canada's finest senior hockey players before joining the NHL. He helped the Bearcats win the 1940 Allan Cup, before going to the Rangers in 1945. While with the Rangers, he would win the 1946 Calder Memorial Trophy and the 1950 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993. In 2009, Laprade was ranked No. 24 on the all-time list of New York Rangers in the book 100 Ranger Greats (John Wiley & Sons). [edit] External links
