East Sydney is a small inner-city locality in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is situated immediately east of the Sydney central business district, adjacent to Hyde Park.

East Sydney is a locality within the suburb of Darlinghurst in the City of Sydney local government area. With the exception of William Street, the suburb remains primarily a residential area, and council proposals for street closures in 2005 mean it will probably stay that way. Stanley Street and Crown Street feature many restaurants with different cuisines. Italian is the most popular type, as East Sydney was Sydney's primary Italian community in the 1960s and 1970s and the area is still sometimes called Little Italy.

East Sydney is represented in one of the most popular sporting competitions in Australia, the National Rugby League, by the local Rugby League club, the Sydney Roosters. The Roosters have represented the area in the League since 1908. The long-term sponsor of the Roosters, City Ford, is based on William Street in East Sydney.
