Eadred Ætheling (Old English Eadred Æþeling) was one of the six sons of King Æthelred the Unready by his first wife Ælfgifu. Little or nothing is known of his life. His name is entered on folio 14v of the Liber Vitae of New Minster. It is not thought that he died in childhood but could have accompanied his father into exile in 1013 and there remained. If he did, he or his own children could have represented a rival claims to the throne of England in 1043 or later in 1066. [edit] See also[edit] External links
