Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University is one of the eleven National Law University (NLU) set up in the historic city of Lucknow in 2006. The university of Law is established under U.P. Act No.28 of 2005. The Law University is fully funded by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The state of the art campus is developed in 40 acres (160,000 m2) of land in the heart of the capital city Lucknow. The University started its academic session from 17 August 2006 with 80 students and 7 faculty members.
[edit] CoursesThis university is based on the NLU Model adopted twenty years ago by the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. This university offers its students a course of five years, and then upon graduation provides the degrees, B.A, LL.B (Hons.), and B.Sc., LL.B (Hons.)degrees.LLM course has been commenced from 2007. University follows a semester pattern and encourages additional project work,moot courts,survey, report writing, research and analysis in its syllabus. [edit] Infrastructure The university guarantees the state of the art infrastructure facilities in Law studies as compared to other Law universities of the nation. Excellent infrastructural facilities such as ultra modern Madhu Limaye library (digital & print) with computer and internet facilities accessing to many online journals and database like lexis-nexis, SCC Online, Manupatra etc. The university is fully centralized air conditioned. Campus wide networking/internet facility through Wi-Fi system enables the students & faculty to have unlimited access to the vistas of knowledge. The Law School campus has been often dubbed as the "best in Asia" and provides immnese oppurtuinity to the young legal minds. [edit] Extra Curricular Activities The Moot Court room. Moot courts, Debates, Guest Lectures from Judges, National and international acamedecians,are part of the academic curricullam and as well as extra curricullam. There are committees to look after these activities. Sports and Games are given extra importance to keep the students fit and healthy.Cultural events are also organised from time to time.
