Dixie Marshall is the senior News anchor for Nine News Perth, a position she has had since 2002, although she has been with Channel 9 since 1984, and previously worked for the Australian Newspaper and Radio 6PR. Dixie was one of the first female sports reporters in Australian television, and while working at Channel Seven News in Melbourne, won awards for covering AFL football, the 1988 Seoul Olympics, international golf, tennis and basketball. She has also co-hosted Sportsworld with Bruce McAvaney. She returned to Perth in 1993 and joined Nine News as a senior reporter, then later became weekend anchor. In 2003, Dixie and Sonia Vinci became Australia's first duo team of female news anchors, initially on a temporary basis, but it was later made permanent. This partnership lasted for 5 years, before her partner Vinci was replaced by former Network Ten newsreader Greg Pearce in 2008. She is also involved in Nine's Appealathon and other charity events at the station. Marshall is a daughter of Western Australian politician and former sports commentator Arthur Marshall. Marshall attended Presbyterian Ladies' College in Perth, Western Australia. [edit] External links
