[edit] Career

Cavalieri started his career at Palmeiras, where he made his debut on 24 June 2002, in a 4–0 away win over Rio Claro. Cavalieri was capped 33 times in the Brazilian Championship, conceding 47 goals.[2]

[edit] Liverpool

On 11 July 2008, he signed a four-year contract with Liverpool for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £3 million.[3] He made his first-team debut in a pre-season friendly against Tranmere Rovers on 12 July 2008.[4]

Cavalieri became the third Brazilian player following Fábio Aurélio and Lucas Leiva. Upon his arrival Cavalieri was handed the number 1 shirt which was last worn by Jerzy Dudek. Cavalieri stated that it had been his dream to move to Europe and targeted a first team place and vowed to improve through hard work. He played a handful of Liverpool's FA Cup and UEFA Champions League games including one against PSV.[5]
