Dhakir , ذاکر (Zakir in Urdu, Jakir in Bengali, Zakir in Malay and Zekir in Persian ) (Arabic "One who remembers Allah frequently) is an Islamic term used for those people who spent most of their time in remembrance of God. The remembrance includes the repetition of the names of Allah, supplications and aphorisms from hadith literature, and sections of the Qur'an. [edit] OriginThe term Dhakir frequently used in the Quraan, stressing all faithful to remember Allah all the time, after the saying their prays. The Quraan says:"They are the most wise who remember Allah, standing sitting and lying down"[1] [edit] Dhakir in SufismIn Islamic Sufism Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani, who considered of holding most distinguished stature in Sufism says: Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi another famous sufi who is renowned for blessing people with Dhikr-e-Qulb says: Those who become Zakir-e-Qulbi (one whose heart commemorates the name of God), they automatically become the disciple or mureed of Abdul-Qadir Gilani[3]. The follower of Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi and members of International Spiritual Movement Anjuman Serfaroshan-e-Islam are also called Zakir or Dhakir. [edit] Source
