Desley Carole Boyle (born 29 March 1948) is an Australian Labor Party politician. She represents the electoral district of Cairns, Queensland in the Queensland Legislative Assembly, to which she was first elected in the 1998 State election[1]
[edit] Before ParliamentPrior to Boyle's being elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly, she worked as a clinical and organisational psychologist and was the director of her own practice, Desley Boyle and Associates, in Cairns[1]. She was also active in Cairn's local government, holding office on the Council from 1988 to 1994, including two years as Deputy Mayor[1]. [edit] Parliamentary ServiceFollowing the 2009 Queensland State elections (held 21 March 2009), Premier Anna Bligh appointed Hon. Desley Boyle MP as Queensland's Minister for Local Government and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Partnerships[2] Prior to this appointment, from 13 September 2007 Desley Boyle had been Queensland Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry within the earlier Anna Bligh Labor Government[1]. She's also previously held the following Ministries with the former Peter Beattie Labor Government[1]:
